Held every August, Agrifair is Abbotsford’s biggest country fair of the year and one of the main summer events to anticipate. The activities range widely from barrel racing and animal shows and displays to a demolition derby featuring a 30-foot fire-breathing dragon! There are also a number of free activities for families to engage in such as mini golf and a family-friendly midway, courtesy of Shooting Star Amusements.
And that is just a sample of the many things to expect! There are regular updates on the many goings-on at Agrifair’s official website. Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or live nearby, you can check out all the newest attractions at the Exhibition Park at 32470 Haida Drive and see for yourself “the best little country fair since 1911.”

Tips: When it comes to pets, as much as Agrifair loves that you care for them so much, there is a lot of loud noise and excitement which will stress them out. Only Guide Assistance pets are permitted on the fair grounds. The Midway has a Friday special called Toonie Afternoon from 12pm to 3pm and you can ride any ride you want for just a toonie!

Abbotsford Farm and Country Market
Kick off the season of farm markets with some time well spent at the Abbotsford Farm and Country Market! Held every Saturday, visitors can expect to see all kinds of locally grown produce, beautifully hand-crafted jewelry, pottery, and furniture, and yummy homemade baked goods from Gesundheit Bakery—all the tip of the iceberg for what to expect when you come to this market. They even have a brand new blog you can check out for recipes, menu ideas, all about the market experience, and more!

Wine Tasting Tours
The entire Fraser Valley is home to over 15 wineries and nearly 30 vineyards, so if you have yet to explore the Fraser Valley and are a wine lover, this is the summer event for you! Some of Abbotsford’s best wineries are also farms including the popular Singletree Winery, where you can either sample a freshly poured glass of their Siegerebbe or the brand new Gruner Veltliner, or bask in the sunshine on their restaurant’s patio during their summer hours of operation—whatever floats your boat!
Just down the road from Singletree is Mt Lehman’s Winery to check out, and they have a very special deal going on for July this year. Buying 2 bottles of their 2015 Pinot Gris will land you a third one for free! They will also be hosting several events this summer, so keep your eyes and ears peeled!
If a wine tasting tour is on your bucket list, make this summer the time to do it. Lepp Farm Market
Summer is one of the busiest times of the year for farm markets, and Lepp Farm Market is the biggest and best in Abbotsford! Not only do they offer cooking classes and outdoor barbecue events but also it’s open year-round! This is the perfect place to celebrate and share your passion for locally grown food and farming with others.
If you are interested in the cooking classes book early, because the seats fill in fast. For those of you who want to pop in for lunch at their Farmer’s Table Café, you can reach Lepp on the corner of Highway 11 and Clayburn Road.

Berry Picking at Maan Farms
Can’t get enough berries from Lepp? Try Maan Farms then! They have been voted as the very best U-Pick within the Fraser Valley! Now is the perfect time of year to find ripe blueberries and raspberries in their fields. When you’re finished, you can visit their farm’s animals and pick up some ice cream or a glass of wine from their winery. They also offer cucumber pickling and venues for birthday parties and farm weddings. They also host an annual summer camp with a focus on agriculture and animal care for the kids!

Tips: If you bring your own bucket for picking berries, these are weighed before you enter the fields so that you are not paying for the weight of your own bucket. The International Air Show
One of the biggest summery Abbotsford events to anticipate is the International Abbotsford Airshow! Held at Abbotsford’s international airport every August, this is an incredible sight to behold and features the finest aeronautical talent and aviation excellence in the world. The event continues to distinguish itself as the best aerobatic showcase the world has even seen, even ranking as one of the top ten airshows in the world (USA Today 2013). Performances include a presentation by the world-famous snowbirds!

Hours: Grounds open from 3:30pm to 10:30pm on Friday and 9am to 6pm Saturday & Sunday. The static display is open from 3:30pm to 7:30pm on Friday and 9am to 5pm Saturday & Sunday. Flying events will take place from 6pm to 10pm on Friday and 11am to 4:30pm Saturday & Sunday.

Free Family Yoga

Free family yoga is offered every Wednesday this summer, hosted by Parallel Yoga Studio in Abbotsford. Abbotsford and the rest of the Fraser Valley features some great outdoor movie nights making for a romantic date night or some great family fun. Suburban Swing at Highstreet
Shopping is not the only thing to do at Highstreet Mall in Abbotsford! Every Tuesday this summer there will be a free swing dance class open to everyone who loves dancing, swing, and both! Suburban Swing is considered to be Western Canada’s oldest and largest swing dance club to date. Held rain or shine in Highstreet’s central plaza, no experience is required to come join in the fun and dance the night away!

Held annually, AbbyFest a.k.a. the Abbotsford Multiculturalism Festival celebrates Canada’s diversity within the Abbotsford community! The festival has grown over the years since its beginning in 2008, attracting over 6,000 people and continuously gaining support from local community members and businesses in the Fraser Valley. Held in partnership with the University of the Fraser Valley, expect all kinds of activities to take place at the festival such as music and dancing, vendors, food, and more.
